the bulldog club of new jersey is a specialty club focused on only one breed: bulldogs. that is the official name for the breed with the
american kennel club and the
bulldog club of america. the breed is frequently referred to as english bulldogs, derived from their origin in england and the perception of them as symbolic of the english, especially through the image americans have of the tenacity of the english spirit.
club meetings are open to anyone interested in bulldogs, whether you use the word english or just call them bulldogs. non-members are welcome to attend our programs on specific bulldog-related topics, our matches, and our shows and are encouraged to become members and actively participate in the club's activities.
bcnj is concerned with the education of pet owners and breeders alike. the club encourages responsible pet ownership, in part through programs at meetings and the gazette, our newsletter, which is sent to every member. each year we have social events, including a holiday party at which championship medals are awarded to members whose dogs have earned conformation or obedience titles, a spring auction of bulldog collectibles, and a covered dish dinner in june.
the club holds two akc sanctioned match shows with futurities each year, one in the winter and one in the summer. two point shows are held annually, one in april and the second in september. the akc licenses the club to hold these events and they are held under akc rules. further information on the matches and shows may be found by clicking the appropriate button above. bcnj is member club of the bulldog club of america and the new jersey federation of dog clubs. information about bca division i may be found on the
